Cancellation and Refund Policy

This Cancellation and Refund Policy outlines the terms under which Talking Distance (formerly known as My Mental Health School) provides refunds and processes cancellations for our services. We aim to be transparent and fair in our policies while maintaining the quality of our services.
1. Course Refunds
Free Courses
- All our courses are currently offered free of charge.
- No refund is applicable as no payment is processed.
Future Paid Courses
In the event that we introduce paid courses in the future:
- Refunds will be available if requested within 24 hours of purchase and the course has not been accessed.
- After 24 hours, no refunds will be issued regardless of usage.
- Processing Time: Once approved, refunds will be processed to original accounts within 20 working days.
2. Personal and Professional Mental Health Development Services
Individual Sessions
- Cancellation More Than 24 Hours Before Scheduled Session
- 100% refund or full credit for future sessions.
- Cancellation Between 12-24 Hours Before Scheduled Session
- 50% refund or 75% credit toward future sessions.
- Cancellation Less Than 12 Hours Before Scheduled Session
- No refund.
- At our discretion, we may offer partial credit toward future sessions in extenuating circumstances.
- Cancellation More Than 24 Hours Before Scheduled Session
Group Sessions
Commitment-Based Structure
Our group sessions are carefully curated, closed-format spaces. When you register for a group, your spot is held exclusively for you and cannot be transferred to another participant—even if you’re unable to attend a session. This ensures safety, consistency, and therapeutic continuity for all members.
For groups running less than 8 weeks, we do not offer partial refunds for missed sessions, as the group dynamic depends on your commitment from the start.
You may rejoin ongoing sessions even if you miss one, but your absence does not open the spot to someone else, nor does it affect the session cost.
Refund Policy for Group Sessions
- Cancellation More Than 72 Hours Before Start of First Session
- 100% refund available.
- Cancellation Between 72 and 24 Hours Before Start of First Session
- 50% refund available.
- Cancellation Less Than 24 Hours Before Start of First Session
- No refund due to the fixed and reserved nature of group commitments.
- Cancellation More Than 72 Hours Before Start of First Session
Processing Time
- Once approved, refunds are processed to the original payment method within 20 working days.
3. Rescheduling Policy
- Rescheduling More Than 24 Hours Before Scheduled Session
- No fees apply.
- Rescheduling Between 12-24 Hours Before Scheduled Session
- Subject to availability.
- No additional fee for first reschedule; subsequent reschedules within a 30-day period may incur a fee.
- Rescheduling Less Than 12 Hours Before Scheduled Session
- Treated as a late cancellation (no refund).
- New appointment requires new payment.
- Rescheduling More Than 24 Hours Before Scheduled Session
4. No-Show Policy
- Failure to attend a scheduled session without prior notice is considered a “no-show.”
- No refunds will be provided for no-shows.
- Repeated no-shows may result in the requirement of pre-payment for future sessions or termination of services.
5. Technical Issues
- Service Provider Technical Failures
- If a session cannot be completed due to technical issues on our end, you will receive a full refund or complimentary rescheduled session.
- Client Technical Issues
- If you experience technical difficulties preventing session completion, please contact us immediately.
- Partial credit may be offered at our discretion, depending on the circumstances.

6. Payment Methods
- Payments are made via third-party payment processors.
- Talking Distance does not store your payment details.
- Refunds will be processed to the original payment method used for the purchase.
7. International Transactions
For international clients, please note that:
- Currency conversion rates are determined by your payment provider.
- Bank or credit card foreign transaction fees may apply and are not refundable by Talking Distance.
- Processing times for international refunds may take longer than domestic refunds.
8. Subscription Services
If we introduce subscription services in the future:
- Subscriptions will renew automatically unless canceled prior to the renewal date.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription via your account settings.
- No partial refunds will be provided for unused portions of a subscription period.
9. Exceptions and Extenuating Circumstances
We understand that emergencies and exceptional situations may arise. In such cases:
- Please contact us as soon as possible.
- Documentation may be requested for verification purposes.
- Exceptions to this policy are made on a case-by-case basis at our sole discretion.
10. Right to Refuse Service
Talking Distance reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time. In such cases:
- A full refund will be provided for any prepaid services not yet rendered.
- We will provide a referral to alternative service providers where appropriate.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cancellation and Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or prominent notice on our website.
