Anushree Dirangane

Therapist | Mental Health Advocate | Seeker of Everyday Silliness

Hi, I am Anushree, a therapist and mental health professional with over 9 years of experience in therapy and more than a decade in the mental health field.

Why I Became A Therapist

When I was younger, I couldn’t wait to grow up. Now, as an adult, I feel deeply grateful for the journey—not because life is perfect, but because I’ve learned that joy and resilience are choices we can nurture, even in the face of pain. My work as a therapist is rooted in a simple, unwavering belief: humans are not meant to suffer endlessly. We all deserve to feel safe, seen, and empowered to rewrite our stories.

My Approach as a Therapist

I’m an integrative practitioner who tailors therapy to each client’s unique story. Grounded in narrative and person-centred therapy, I draw from methods like Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gottman Method, and Attachment Theory. As a therapist, I want to create a supportive space where you feel empowered to trust yourself. I also bring a systemic and social justice lens to my work, recognizing how social structures, power dynamics, and cultural influences shape mental health.

Lived Experience

Living outside India for the past five years has given me a unique perspective on mental health in both domestic and international contexts. Having worked in India and abroad, I understand the emotional and cultural challenges of adjusting to a new country—navigating social norms, maintaining relationships, and redefining “home.” This inspired Talking Distance—a space where both NRIs and those in India can feel supported in navigating distance, cultural conflict, and belonging with empathy and understanding.

My Therapy Philosophy

If we meet, you’ll quickly learn two things about me: I laugh easily and I deeply believe in your capacity to heal. Therapy isn’t just about easing pain—it’s about creating room for joy, curiosity, and connection. We all deserve more than survival; we deserve to thrive. I’m here to walk alongside you—helping you trust yourself, build resilience, and rediscover the strength and joy that’s already within you.
