Why I Became A Therapist
I’ve always been a collector of stories. As a kid, I’d pester anyone with endless “why” questions—not just about people, but about everything. Growing up, though, I realized stories aren’t just told—they’re lived. Moving across cultures, devouring books, and meeting people from different walks of life taught me that we are all constantly rewriting our narratives.
So how did I become a therapist? There’s no single “aha” moment. My path was more like a winding road paved with curiosity. I simply followed questions that fascinated me: How do we heal? What makes us brave? Why do some stories hold us back while others set us free?
Therapy, for me, is about helping people reclaim their curiosity—that spark that gets buried under fear or pain. I believe we are wired not just to survive, but to thrive: to laugh loudly, hope stubbornly, and rewrite endings we once thought were set in stone.
(And for the record—curiosity didn’t kill this cat. It just gave her a really interesting job.)
My Approach as a Therapist
Therapy, to me, is a partnership. I believe in a collaborative approach and not in one-size-fits-all answers. Your story is unique, and so is the way we will navigate it. Drawing from narrative therapy (rewriting unhelpful chapters), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (embracing what matters, not just what hurts), and humanistic principles (trusting your innate wisdom), I blend tools to match your goals.
Think of it like building a toolkit together: some days we’ll borrow strategies to quiet self-doubt, other days we’ll practice grounding in the present, and always, we’ll check in— “Is this helping? What’s missing?”
My core is person-centered. That means you define what “safe” feels like. No jargon, no pressure to perform. Just a quiet space where we can untangle the “why” behind your struggles, celebrate the “aha” moments, and pivot when something isn’t clicking.
Bottom line? You are the expert on you. I’m here to listen, reflect, and occasionally nudge you toward the strengths you have forgotten how to see.
Lived Experience & Philosophy
Through my own journey in therapy (both as a client and a practitioner), I’ve learned that healing isn’t about sanding down your edges to belong. It’s about building a world where your quirks aren’t just tolerated, but celebrated.
My philosophy? Forget about the “shoulds.”Be a pink flamingo.
Here’s why: Flamingos aren’t born vibrant—they become so by nourishing themselves with what sustains them. Healing works the same way. You don’t erase the past; you gather its fragments and decide: Do these shards become a cage, or a kaleidoscope? A wound, or wings? Therapy, to me, is the process of choosing—messily, bravely—how your story unfolds next.
