Hi, I’m Zenah! I’m a Clinical Psychologist and Therapist with over five years of experience in therapy, diagnosis, and treatment. I’ve worked with both outpatient and inpatient clients, providing compassionate care in hospitals and private practice settings.

Why I Became A Therapist

I’ve always been deeply curious about people and fascinated by how interesting we are as humans. My journey into psychology began with a naïve interest in understanding people, relationships and how we all interact. As my knowledge of the complexities of human behaviour deepened, this interest evolved into a drive to explore what hinders/affects well-being and personal growth. I then pursued a path in clinical psychology, which allowed me to understand human strengths, struggles, and illnesses and gave me the unique privilege of supporting people during times of challenges, suffering or ill health. Ultimately, my journey as a psychotherapist has become about walking with people through difficult times in life but also helping people experience life to its fullest, thrive, and simply enjoy things.

Through my work, I’ve witnessed first-hand the profound impact therapy can have on individual health and relationships, and that is what continues to inspire me every day.

My Approach as a Therapist

I believe therapy is most effective when the therapist and client work together as partners to achieve personal goals and enhance overall health and well-being. My approach is holistic, blending evidence-based psychological techniques with a culturally sensitive understanding of each client’s unique context. I am a clinical psychologist trained in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and incorporate elements from various therapeutic modalities, including Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centred Therapy, and Systems Theory. This allows me to tailor my approach to meet each individual’s and their community’s specific needs. Additionally, I place emphasis on psychoeducation/ mental health literacy, empowering clients to not only heal but also to understand self and personal experiences and advocate for their own mental health and well-being.

Lived Experience and My Therapy Philosophy

My work has been shaped by my experiences in Uganda, East Africa, and Europe, allowing me to appreciate the diverse ways mental health is perceived and addressed. I believe that stigma is one of the biggest barriers to seeking help, and my work—both in research and practice—focuses on dismantling these barriers. My philosophy as a therapist is grounded in empowerment: I see therapy as a tool to help individuals reclaim control over their lives, foster resilience, and build supportive communities. I am especially passionate about working with young people, as I believe that equipping them with mental health knowledge and coping skills early on can lead to a healthier, more inclusive society.
